Algarve
Jardim do Vau is located in Portimão, one of the main cities in the Algarve and home to the River Arade. Formerly navigated by Phoenicians, Greeks, Carthaginians, Romans, Arabs and Crusaders, it is said that the Phonencians named the river “Arvad”, which in their language meant “safe refuge” and it later became known as the “River Arade”. Today, it is possible to navigate this river through the various cruises that depart from Portimão to Silves and hence rediscover the shores that have remained untouched through time.
The Algarve is the most southerly region of Portugal, bordered by the Atlantic Ocean and under the climatic influence of the Mediterranean Sea; it enjoys pleasant temperatures throughout the year with many days of blue skies and plenty of sunshine.
